Hiking Trail Logs!!
- Government Canyon Hike
This is my first nature hike since Boy Scouts almost 40 years ago!!
Government Canyon is large and beautiful, just about 20 miles west of San
Antonio, TX. Wow, what beautiful hill country!!
-
Pedernales Falls Hike OK, so this was more of a walk!!
- Enchanted Rock Hike
This was my first hike and campout in years. I didn't bring my camera and
missed some great pics. I had Ticks, my puppy on
the trail with me.
- Palo Duro and the Lighthouse
Trail This is one of the best trails I have taken. I helped cook
for the inauguration of Pat O'Brien now President of WTAMU. Pat told me that
Canyon TX was named because of the canyon nearby. I had driven in from the
East Texas, and down 15 miles from Amarillo. I hadn't seen any indication
of a "canyon" just FLAT ground for the last 160 miles!! Palo Duro is the second largest canyon in the US, and
has gotta be Texas's best kept secret.
- Thousand Palms Oasis Hike
This is the first of 4 hikes from my Palm Springs, CA Dec. 2006
vacation. It was easy, fun and very beautiful. Plus right in the middle of the
Palm Valley desert.
- Tahquitz Canyon Hike
The next day we took a fantastic hike into the "spirited" Tahquitz Canyon.
It is supposedly haunted by an soul eating Cahuilla Indian shaman named
Tahquitz.
Check it out, I think I caught a pic of him!
- Little San Bernardino
Mountains Hike This was the toughest of them all
(So FAR), only a little more
than 4 miles up and back, BUTTTT it was a climb of over 1,100 ft in
elevation!! PAGE 2
covers the trail down, AND we found a bobcat skull!
- Painted Canyon
Hike and the Ladder Trail Log I thought I had seen it all, WOW, if you
are a hiker and are in Southern California, ya gotta do this. This was
such a great hike, I had to break it down into two pages.
- When you think you have reached the top, well, Sh_t
Happens!!.....Soooo, if ya wanta know, Just check it out!!
Painted Canyon Part
Deaux
- Thousand
Trails Medina Lake Camp Ground Trail Log This is a private preserve, but
at least it was a beautiful day and practice hike for the week to come!
- I'm Back!!!
Enchanted Rock Loop Trail
Revisited, and this time with a camera (my Treo 700s) and my Garmin
GPSMAP 76CSx, So this time I did Enchanted Rock right!!
-
Enchanted Rock Loop Trail Revisited Part Deaux !!!! More pics and
commentary from this beautiful location!!
- Wild Horse Creek and The Old Entrance Road Trails, Garner
Texas State Park, OK so this was more like a walk rather than a hike! But I
have incorporated a map from my Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx.
-
Palo Duro Canyon and the Lighthouse Trail Revisited, COOOOOL, i am
back at WTAMU and this time with Ticks and Ann!
- Fort
Jackson and Bayou Mardi Gras, The Civil War defense fort along the
Mississippi River.
I am
going to hike all of the Trails at the Jean Lafitte
National Historical Park and Preserve, the following are my Trail Logs! The
Barataria Preserve is just 25 minutes from downtown New Orleans.
- Bayou Coquille and
Kenta Canal Trail Log This is the best kept secret in the New
Orleans Area. Why pay to see alligators from a boat, when you can walk
within 6 feet of them!!! WOW, alligators, turtles, snakes, fish, squirrels,
blue herons and tons of other wild life, all on the trail.
- Bayou Coquille
and Kenta Canal Trail Log, Part Deaux, This is all about the Kenta Canal
and beau coup alligators! Up close and personal.
- Pecan Grove, Ring
Levee Trail and the Wood Duck Trails , These are all located near the
Environmental Education Complex in the Pecan Grove Parking Lot.
- Bayou Coquille and Kenta Canal Trails Revisited It surprised me
that this hike was soooo different from my hike in May!! There is soooooo much to see every time you
walk the walk!!!!!
- Pecan
Grove, Ring Levee and Wood Duck Trail Revisited! The decking is FIXED!!
- Pecan Grove,
Plantation Trail (Loops A&B) This is the best trail for solitude and to
experience wildlife! We saw a Bald Eagle!!!! And ya gotta see our pic of a
snake eating a frog!!
-
Visitor's Center Trail Wow! in just a quarter of a mile SOOOOO much to
see. The "Trail" is totally accessible to wheel chairs and baby
strollers. And let's not forget
that we saw a 5 ft alligator just inches from the deck!
- Twin Canal Trail The
horseflies were out in force, we needed our boots! SEE, I told ya that you
should get them for Jean Lafitte hikes!
-
Bayou
Coquille and Kenta Canal Trails Revisited in the Winter! (January 2,
2010)
-
The Palmetto Trail
(January 3, 2010) The

Jean Lafitte
Nature Study Park Trail. ( February 21, 2010) This park is
built and maintained by the Town of Jean Lafitte and NOT part of the
National Park.
Audubon Park
Loop Trail - This is more of a walk then a hike. But for the
tourist, bike enthusiast, walkers, or workout people, this is a great location
to work up a sweat or just get the blood flowing.
Audubon Park Golf
Course GPS Map! You can see that we really did stay on the cart path!!
