Medina Lake Trail
Thousand Trails, Medina Lake Preserve
Chef Emile's Medina Lake Trail Log

You got mail!! I have never seen this many roadside mailboxes in one place!!
This is the walk that Ann and I took when we first arrived at Medina Lake, Thousand Trails Preserve and Campground. BTW, we did NOT camp, we stayed in one of the Getaway Cabins! That is roughing it.... NOT!!!!
From the Thousand Trail website a description of the Preserve: "This 260-acre preserve along the shores of Medina Lake lies in the famous Hill Country of Texas. Hunting, boating and fishing are popular in the area. The region contains several dude ranches, and nearby Bandera (the "Cowboy Capital of the World") offers horseback rides, square dancing, rodeos, and chuckwagon dinners. In San Antonio (40 miles) you can visit the Alamo, Sea World, the Heart of Texas (visitor entertainment center), Fiesta Texas Theme Park, and more."
My Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx reordered the Trailpoints and I have generated the Google map below. I calculated that we walked 4 miles, so you can see that this location is pretty large for a private campground.
There are HUNDREDS of deer in the Preserve.
We drove to Tarpley, Texas for a great dinner at Mac & Ernie's Roadside Eatery.
