Children’s
Hospital
of New Orleans is one of the finest institutions in my city. And I think what
drives the hospital is the giving that the hundreds of volunteers dedicate to
the goals and aspirations of
the hospital.
Children’s also gives back, they have asked me to cater the Volunteer’s Breakfast Brunch for the past 4 or 5 years. I love this event!!
I get to cook several of my favorite dishes! Creole Grillades are the perfect
brunch entrée! My grandmother (Mom Mom) used to make it for the family on most
Sundays. She would start it early, and leave it on the stove top as we would go
to Mass. When we would return,
they would be tender and juicy.
Also,
on or my family’s dearest friends is Ms Maureen Liuzza, she grew up with my mom,
and knows my Mom Mom’s grillades. I asked her, and she says that they are very
reminiscent of hers!!! Wow, what a fantastic comment!
My Mom Mom would make regular grits, but I like our Creamy Cheesy
Grits, and so do the Children’s
Along with the above I get to cook our Cheesy Scrambled Eggs,
Bacon, Sausage and Gallons of Fresh Fruit!! Now, that is a cool thank you
breakfast for the Volunteers.
Hospital
Volunteers. I know this, because I get 3 or 4 requests for my recipe!!
OK, OK!!! Everyone wanted my recipe for
Creamy Grits so here it is!!
